Emet Surf provides complete freedom in choosing a media player to ensure convenient and high-quality content playback. You can select one of the built-in players integrated into the app’s interface or use an external player installed on your device.

Built-in Players

Emet Surf includes two built-in media players to choose from: LibVLC and ExoPlayer, both offering smooth navigation and compatibility with various formats.

• LibVLC – a powerful player supporting most popular video and audio formats (MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, Ogg, FLAC, TS, M2TS, Wv, AAC, etc.), providing smooth playback of network streams over HTTP(S), RTMP, FTP, BitTorrent, Ace Stream, and other protocols.
• ExoPlayer – an optimized player developed specifically for Android, ensuring efficient streaming playback and support for DRM-protected video content.

Controls and Navigation

The built-in players of Emet Surf provide convenient playback control:

• Use standard remote buttons (“up,” “down,” “left,” “right,” “OK,” and “Back”) for navigation.
• Long press OK to open an additional menu with available actions.
  Quick access to seeking, adjustments, and other functions:
• Seek:
  • Short press “right/left” – skip forward/backward 10 seconds.
  • Long press “right/left” – fast forward/rewind; playback resumes when the button is released.
• Pause and timeline navigation:
  • Press “OK” during playback to pause.
  • After pausing, move the slider to the desired position and press “OK” again to resume.
• Playlist and quick switching:
  • Edit and switch between files in the playlist.
  • Quickly jump to the next or previous video.
  • When watching Live TV:
    • “Up” and “Down” buttons allow quick switching between TV channels.
    • Pressing “Left” opens the “TV Guide” menu, enabling fast selection and switching to another channel.
• Mute:
  • Quickly toggle sound on/off with a single button.
• Playback speed:
  • Adjust playback speed for comfortable viewing — speed up or slow down.
• Audio track selection and connection:
  • Switch between available audio tracks.
  • Connect audio tracks from external sources, including voice-over or dubbing, using add-ons.
• Audio sync:
  • Adjust audio delay in case of desynchronization with video, ensuring perfect real-time synchronization.
• Subtitles:
  • Enable/disable subtitles and choose the language.
  • Load subtitles from external services such as Open Subtitles and others.
• Sleep timer:
  • A feature for those who like to fall asleep to movies or music — set a timer to stop playback automatically after a chosen period.
• Video size adjustment:
  • Choose the desired display mode: original size, stretched to full screen, cropped edges, or manually adjust scaling.
• Recording and saving content for offline playback:
  • Record live streams.
  • Download and save files to local storage for later playback without internet.
• Access to full player settings menu:
  • “Settings” button on the player control panel.
  • Long press the “OK” button on the remote during playback.

Player flexibility

You can use not only the built-in players but also select any third-party media player installed on your device. This allows you to tailor playback to your preferences, for example, using a player with advanced video and audio processing features. However, navigation may be less convenient compared to the built-in options.
